Welcome to Holzgerlingen

View of Holzgerlingen

"Holzgerlingen is a modern town at the northern edge of Schoenbuch Forest, yet it is rich in tradition and looks back proudly over its eventful history. We are keenly aware of our responsibility for its historical buildings, some of them centuries old, and the recent town centre modernization is a successful blend of contemporary design and feeling for the past. Since renovation work started in 1987, the municipal authorities have spent more than 17.5 Million Euro on upgrading and renewing the town centre, with further 25 to 30 Million Euro invested by private enterprise.

The attractiveness of Holzgerlingen’s town centre is enhanced by the redesigned “Rathausplatz” (town hall square), the renovations and structural alterations in Burg Kalteneck, the public library in the old schoolhouse – now Rektor Franke House -, the new town hall, building activity by private investors such as banks, and a whole series of street – improvement schemes.

The town centre has become a little gem, its very character heightened by the many wells and works of art that decorate its centralk streets and squares. Holzgerlingen’s location, in Schoenbuch Forest yet close to Boeblingen, Sindelfingen and Stuttgart, invigorates its infrastructure in a whole variety of ways. Living and shopping in the town is a pleasure, thanks to the jobs available in Buch and Sol industrial and commercial estates, a wide range of shops and services, schools of all types from nursery to high school, and a full programme of club, leisure and cultural activities.
