Holzgerlingen's "Gretchen" fountain

Pigeon Fountain / Taubenbrunnen

Gretchen fountain

Pigeon fountain

The "Gretchen" fountain in front of the old school house is a memorial to Margarete Binder, a lady-in-waiting at the Stuttgart court at the turn of the century who spent her retirement years in Holzgerlingen.

In remembrance of the old pigeon fountain, which was a drinking trough for animals and was demolished in 1968 to make way for the street, the new fountain was erected in the summer of 1991. The original pillar and the billy-goat were reused.
